Spittoon

The object is a copy of the dentist's spittoon from the dentist's cabinet run by the artist's great-grandfather.

It has been sited on Plac Konstytucja in Warsaw, where stood the artist' great-grandfather's house before it was destroyed in the war. The place is one of the significant sites in the narration of the hero of the film Gold and Silver.

The original spittoon was made from marble, with elements of silver and sculpted ornamentation, and betrayed its owner's fondness for magnificence.

Realisation: Marcin Plaszczyk

Producer: Zachęta Narodowa Galeria Sztuki
